Evaluation and Planning of Overcurrent Relay and Ground Fault Protection Coordination System at Terminal Teluk Lamong Port

(Achmad Juniardi Mulyana from D4 Ship Electrical Engineering Study Program)

The reliability of the protection coordination system in an industrial electrical system is very important to prevent total blackout when a disturbance occurs. This blackout incident has been experienced by PT. Teluk Lamong Terminal because the relay trips simultaneously. When a blackout is of course very detrimental because it disrupts port operational time. The electrical system at PT. Teluk Lamong Terminal is currently divided into 4 sections which are often called HVS (High Voltage Shore). One of the causes of blackout is the phase to ground fault or often called Ground Fault. One effort to overcome this problem is the addition of Insulating Transformers equipment. In this research, a protection coordination simulation was carried out using the Electric Transent and Analysis (ETAP) software to determine the Existing and Resetting state of the relay coordination. After conducting research on the Existing conditions, there is a relay coordination that is lacking and exceeds the existing standards. This can be detrimental if there is interference because the relay coordination is not going well. After evaluating and adding Insulating Transformers, relay coordination can be set according to existing standards.

This research focuses on the Protection Coordination System and the steps that must be taken in analyzing and resetting the existing protection coordination system in the field.
